1947 Born in Shizuoka, Japan
1971 Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Science and Engineering

Division, Waseda University, Tokyo

1973-1974 Invited researcher, French Government’s Scholarship
1974-1977 Joined Piano & Rogers (Paris, France)
1977-1981 Participated in the establishment of Piano & Rice & Associati (Genova, Italy)
1986 Received the title of Architect by French government
1981-1988 Worked as a Chief Architect for Renzo Piano Building Workshop Paris
1988-1994 Renzo Piano Building Workshop Japan and served as a representative president
1995- Established the Design & Research Organization:

Noriaki Okabe Architecture Network in Tokyo as a representative president

1996-2016 Professor of Kobe Design University
1997-1998 Visiting Professor of Graduate School of Architecture in the University of Tokyo
2004 Lecturer of the Educational TV Program of NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) in Japan (9 times in all)
2007 Received  a doctorate at Kobe Design University
